Looking Good Guy!
Outfits
We always recommend you bring at least one set of clothes that we call the “Parent Pleaser.” What does this mean? Bring at least one outfit that is more classic, something that won’t be out of style in a few years.
A nice suit and tie or a sports jacket always work great! If you don’t own a suit and would never even think of doing the tie thing, then wear a nice sweater or dress shirt with a pair of dress pants.
Choose darker color shirts, white or off-white shirts without a jacket do not photograph well. However, a white shirt under a coat or jacket looks great. Don’t wear light pants with a darker shirt. If you keep the entire look dark that is best.
Now that the classic outfit is out of the way let’s personalize things…
Leather or jean jackets are an excellent choice for your portraits. Bring one as an add-on to your other outfits. A jacket will give you additional variety. Long-sleeved shirts are preferred, and shorts are not usually the best option. Blue jeans or colored casual pants work well.
Sweaters are perfect for photography all year long. Solid or subtle prints are better than loud, contrasty styles.
Wide striped shirts or shirts with a stripe right across the chest can be distracting and should be avoided if possible.
Most importantly be sure to bring clothes and hobby items that reflect your personality. Sports items or musical instruments like guitars, drums, horns, etc. are a super choice for adding a unique flair to your portraits.

Getting Ready
Be sure your nails are groomed, and c
If you plan to get your hair cut, try to schedule it at least one week before your session. That is especially important in the summer when a fresh cut may reveal untanned skin.
Dress from head to toe! Bring along accessories for each outfit such as shoes, socks, belt, and ties.
Do not wear white socks! Even under long pants, when you sit down your socks may show and white will draw attention away from your face.
Remember to bring your smile! We won’t force you to do anything that you don’t want to do but your family and friends see you smile and that is what they expect to see in your portraits.
We generally do 70% smiles and 30% serious expressions for the guys, unless you have a different request.
Important note to guys!
We hear from a lot of guys that they had more fun during their session than they ever expected, so leave your worries at home.
We’re going to have a great time!
Tips for Everyone
Avoid sunburns. We all love the sun but stay out of it for a few days before your session. A little color is beautiful but
Wrinkles show! Make sure your clothes are pressed.
Avoid wearing white socks, unless you want that look. White socks will draw attention to your feet and nobody will notice your gorgeous face!
Lenses in glasses can cause facial distortion and reflect light. This is difficult to digitally correct, so ask your eye doctor if he or she can supply a pair of glasses just like yours, but without lenses.
Shoes: avoid white tennis shoes, unless it is in your sports session. We like to photograph bare feet, but be sure to bring at least a pair of slip-
Coats and jackets make really cool props. You may consider bringing one or two along, just to add to an image. This will give you some additional variety in your portraits.
